Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut is committed to being a catalyst for engaging people and communities in shaping a democratic health system.
Our vision is a health care system that provides universal access to quality, affordable health care and promotes health in Connecticut. Our grant making program funds organizations that share our values and advance our mission. We support nonprofit organizations that address systemic problems in Connecticut's health care system, with a focus on engaging the public in health systems change. Our grantees conduct outreach, educate people regarding health reform and mobilize consumers to advocate for quality, affordable health care. The foundation does not fund direct clinical care.
In 2013 the foundation awarded grants in the following categories:
- Outreach, public education and engagement
- Outreach, public education and engagement through faith groups and leaders
- Outreach, education and engagement to targeted groups: small business, labor and providers
- General operating support for advocacy groups
