To serve as a catalyst that engages people and communities in shaping a health system that provides universal access to quality health care and promotes health in Connecticut. We believe that health care is a fundamental right and that our work is part of a broader movement for social and economic justice.
Our Long-Term Vision:
The Foundation will work to achieve the following vision:
People and communities of Connecticut enjoy better health because they have a health system that is part of a just society: it is democratically controlled, provides universal access to quality health care, promotes prevention and the health of all people, and is driven by the common good and not by profit. The health sector is a good place to work: health care workers and health provider institutions are valued for the work they do in improving the health care and health of the people and communities of Connecticut, and their workforce reflects the diversity of people and cultures they serve.
Goals
By January 2007, with its core partners and allies, the Foundation will have helped create:
- A broad base of support for universal health care in Connecticut;
- Stronger and more empowered consumers of health care;
- A concrete proposal to establish a universal health system in Connecticut;
- A statewide coalition that brings the proposal to the Governor and legislature of Connecticut; and
- Quality improvements in public and institutional policy and practice.

Our Values
Our work is guided by our values, which seek to close racial, ethnic, gender, language and economic gaps, ensure equal access to quality health care and improve the health status of Connecticut communities and residents.
We believe:
Quality health care is a right;
Inclusion is a priority;
The system is broken, not the people;
Government, community and individuals all have roles to play in shaping a better system;
The Foundation is part of a larger movement for social and economic justice; and
The role of leadership is to help bridge social and economic boundaries.
